Artwork guide

We want to provide you with the best possible print quality. To help us do this and to process your order quickly please follow the artwork guidelines below. If you have any questions please visit our FAQ page or phone our production team on 0191 232 5454.

Preferred formats

Please send your artwork at full, ½ or ¼ size PDF.

We also accept jpg files (maximum of 300dpi). If you want to send artwork in other formats, please contact us first.

Sending your artwork

You can send your artwork files via email to print@photoline.co.uk or for large files via our upload link. Please contact us if you have any problems.

Colour proofs, colour & colour matching

We aim to provide you with the best possible print quality. However we cannot guarantee to accurately colour match or reproduce Pantone colours, or colour match between new and previously printed work.

We recommend a colour proof if you wish to be certain of the colour and content of your final graphics. Production proofs can be sent to you within 1 working day of receiving your artwork, and you can request one by contacting us on 0191 232 5454. If you are unable to wait for a proof and you agree to proceed to print then we cannot accept liability for any variation in colour or content that differs from your expectations (conditions apply).

Artwork proofs

If you are using our design service or we have had to make artwork changes on your behalf we will send you an artwork proof by email for your approval. Please note that we will be unable to proceed to print until we have received confirmation of your approval. Waiting for final print ready artwork approval may lead to longer turnaround times than stated on our website.

Artwork setup

Please send us artwork that is 'ready to print'. We will contact you if your artwork is incorrectly setup. We may charge for any artwork charges which we may have to make on your behalf to enable your order to proceed. (£30 per hour for simple artwork changes) To help avoid this charge please follow the artwork guidelines on the product pages as well as these guidelines..

Bleeds

Minimum of 5mm at full size, 25mm for vinyl banner hems. Artwork must be provided with crop marks to show finished size.

Print area

Please keep text a minimum of 3mm from the edge of the page. For posters that are to be displayed in pavement signs, keep text at least 10mm from the edge of the page.

Photos & digital camera images

All photos should be at a maximum resolution of 300dpi and in RGB format for PC. If using Photoshop Tiff files please make sure that LZW compression is turned off. Photos should be inserted into your artwork scaled to the size it will appear in the artwork. Please do not increase images beyond their original size. These guidelines also apply to any digital camera images.

Imported graphics

To avoid poor quality reproduction, please do not use graphics from non-design programs eg. Word, PowerPoint, Excel or from websites. These graphics are of a low resolution and will not print to a quality standard.

Fonts

Please use only legitimate PostScript fonts. If you must use TrueType fonts then please ensure that they are converted to curves (outlines).
