TOP TIPS FOR PERFECT BOOKLET PRINTING

Here are some top tips to help you produce great looking booklets that’ll help your business/ service stand out:

PAGE COUNTS

Firstly, when requesting a print quote or page planning your booklet it’s important to understand page counts. You should include the front and back outside covers of the booklet and inside covers too: ie.. count the front cover as page 1, the inside left cover as page 2, and so on and so forth.

When choosing a saddle stitched booklet, (stapled booklet) make sure the total amount of pages in your booklet is a multiple of four , however If you decided to choose a perfect bound booklet (magazine style binding ) there needs to be a minimum of 20 pages, but you don’t need to worry about pages being in multiples.

HIGH END BOOKLET BINDING OPTIONS

Saddle Stitching: As a rule of thumb if your document has pages between 8 – 48, then this is an ideal size for saddle-stitching (stapled spine). This is a very popular way to bind a document, as it is cost effective and provides a great finish.

GETTING THE ARTWORK RIGHT

Make sure you choose a graphic designer who can bring your business information, report or tender to life through impactful and vibrant images and graphics. Work with your designer closely on page and information planning, and provide a full as possible brief to make sure they understand your objectives and requirements.

Make sure paragraphs of text are short and punchy, and organise your information in an easily digestible way with interesting headings and sub headings.

All images chosen should be high resolution, with the front cover providing a compelling and high impact visual. Your graphic designer should make sure to leave enough space to accommodate the binding option chosen- if in doubt your printer will be able to provide the artwork spec required.

Also think about the orientation and size of your booklet- If you are using a lot of landscape images in your booklet, or you’d like to do things a little differently it may be better to make your booklet landscape rather than portrait for instance.
